Speech & Language:  This week we will practice the blend of /st/.  We will be stringing stars and our snack of strawberries will be contributed by Ben!

Sharing:  For those who haven't shared for May, please bring your vacation share in on Tuesday, May 31st.
This week, on Thursday we will be treated to a special performance by the 3rd grade about famous Americans.  On Friday we will all participate in Track & Field Day at the Community Club.  This is a fun-filled day when the children play games in a festive music-filled atmosphere culminating with dancing.  It is a day that the children look forward to all year.  We will ride in buses to the event and there will be more information going home Tuesday so look for it in your child's Book Buddy.

Our Schedule:
Monday-no school, Memorial Day
Tuesday-Speech & Language, Last Sharing, Art Trek
Wednesday-P.E.
Thursday-3rd Grade Play
Friday-Track & Field Day

Remember our special homework for the last 2 weeks of school!  Help your child practice a talent for our last day talent show.  Room Parents and Party Parents will be contacting everyone for help during these last 2 weeks.

I still need someone to copy the homework for next year's incoming class.  This was done last year for our current class.  If you have access to a copier, I would be so grateful.

Please sign up to help pack up Room K if you have not done so already!  http://vols.pt/HoWejf

Thank you all for your help and support in Room K!

Speech & Language:  This week we will practice the sound of initial /s/.  We will make a sock puppet for our craft and enjoy a snack of mini-cinnamon rolls contributed by Weston!
This week we will continue learning new sight words, write in our journal and enjoy working with play dough, playing reading games and using our new computers to practice reading on the Starfall program.  We are finishing up our math journals and practicing addition and subtraction in addition to some of our favorite math games.

This is the last week of Official Homework!  Please return the Letter Tiles and Number Cubes this Friday.  Be sure the sets are complete and label each set with your child's name on a sticky note or piece of tape so I can be sure that all children turn in their materials.  Thank you!

This Friday is our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in Room 14!

Our schedule:
Monday:  P.E., Orchestra Spring Concert, Yoga, Council
Tuesday:  Speech & Language

Speech & Language:  This week we will practice the sound of initial /R/.  Our craft will be making rainbows and our snack of raspberries will be contributed by Bo!

The children in Room K are very excited to learn to read and we are encouraging them by having a question of the day each morning, reading to learn in our math journals, Let's Find Out! magazine, playing games on the computers featured in Starfall, in the games provided by Planet Bravo and by learning new sight words each day using our Sight Word books.  You can challenge your child to find sight words in books they are reading at home and by reading books together every day.

Thank you to all of you who made the Silent Auction a success by helping at the event, attending the event, creating the class projects, bidding on the class projects and contributing in every way to help raise needed funds to give the students at Topanga so many great programs.  The even was so much fun and it was great to see so many Room K parents there.

Our schedule this week will be:
Monday:  P.E., yoga, Council
Tuesday:  Speech & Language,  Art Trek
Wednesday:  P.E., Let's Find Out! magazine, 2nd Step
Thursday:  Science
Friday:  Morning Assembly, music with Sean, Sharing, Homework Review, Library, Big Buddies

Thank you all so very much for all that you do to help Room K be the amazing place of learning that it is!
