Book Charts are due!  I have only received 2 September Book Charts.  They are due by October 1st.

We had a great turn out at our Commitment Dinner.  A special thank you to Nikki and Nick for hosting, Dana for explaining classroom involvement, and Stephanie for explaining TEP involvement and activities.

This week we will meet Mr. D who is dashing and loves to dance!  We will be reinforcing the sound of the letter and the proper was to write both capital and lowercase (big/little) Dd.  We will work in our Benchmark workbook in our new unit, Unit 2 Family & Friends, our Handwriting Without Tears, Alphabet Journal, writing journal and Letter People pages.

In math we will begin in our October math journal and our Number 6 books.

Sharing:  This week the Eeyores will share..
This week is Green Week.  We will make our Green Book and wear green on Thursday.
Be sure to turn in your pledges for the Coyote Run by this Friday!

This week we will practice the letter and sound of C.  We will practice rhyming, writing, forming letters with playdough and Wikki Sticks.  We will learn a new word each day and practice listening and taking turns during Council and our morning circle.  We will learn to play together during learning centers and on the playground.

We encourage the children to use their voices.  In the classroom we have voice levels to learn appropriate levels for learning situations.  During conflicts we teach the children to use a "superhero" voice to express their feelings, e.g. "I don't like it when you push me.  Please don't do that."  TK/K's are learning to express their feelings and to recognize the feelings of others.

Math this week will include our September Math Journal, #5 Book, manipulatives and math games.

Our schedule this week:
Monday:  Dance, Big Buddies
Tuesday:  Planet Bravo
Wednesday:  Yoga, Council, P.E.
Thursday:  Green Day, Library
Friday:  Morning Assembly, Coyote Run, Homework Review, Sharing, Science (sounds), P.E.
Saturday:  Room K Commitment Dinner at the Hexum's 4-6 p.m. (Adults only please)

Thank you for your great participation and see you at our class dinner!

This week we will meet Ms. A!  We will begin our Letter Person pages in addition to our Benchmark reading workbook focusing on "All About Me."  We will make our Orange Book, and work in our Journal, Alphabet Dictionary, Handwriting Without Tears book, use our Starfall computer program and much more!

In math this week we will work in our September Math Journal and our #3 book in addition to using math games and manipulatives to reinforce concepts. We are focusing on establishing a classroom family, learning about and recognize feelings, following classroom rules and procedures and making friends.

A few reminders:
-Subscribe to this blog and our Shutterfly site so you will always be up to date about class and school events.
-Be sure your child is wearing socks and safe shoes every day.
-Send a healthy snack, lunch and water.
-Remember your Book Buddy and folder and have your child learn to put them in the Blue Box each morning.
-Remember to attend the volunteer training on 9/20 if you haven't already so you can begin volunteering in class!

If you don't live in Topanga, you might want to subscribe to our local newspaper, The Mountain Messenger News.  I have a column each month, but more importantly, you will learn about all of the cool events in Topanga and the Santa Monica Mountains.  Topanga residents receive it in the mail every 2 weeks, but if you live outside of Topanga, you will need to subscribe or read it online.

Thank you for all of your amazing support and help so far.  It is appreciated!
