Speech & Language:  This week we will be practicing the /fr/ blend. We will make a "frogs tongue" and our snack of fruit salad will be contributed by Weston.

Sharing:  This week the will be both the Tiggers and Piglets
Monday I will be sending home the mid-year progress reports.  Though these are designed to "warn" parents of below grade level progress, a "3" on the report card, I have sent a report with every student to touch base with all parents.  The data I am using to assess progress consists of the DIBELS assessment, the LAUSD mid-year math assessment, assessments on Educational Software for Guided Instruction, informal assessments and classroom observations.  The purpose of the mid-year progress report is to allow parents an opportunity to support their children and to give time for improvement before formal grades are given out.  I will be happy to discuss this with you after you have had a chance to review the report and offer suggestions for home support.

Remember:  Parents are a child's first and most important teachers and home support has a direct correlation to school success.

I would like to thank those of you who review homework and make sure it is completed correctly.  You are instilling the importance of work habits in your child.

Thank you for helping your children use Raz-Kids and improve their reading skills.  You are supporting your children mastering the Common Core Standards.

Thank you for helping in the classroom to allow small group instruction and early intervention with students and special activities such as art and gardening.

Thank you for being wonderfully supportive of our classroom, me and Miss Samantha.  You make us feel honored and appreciated for the work we do.

*Thank you Kelly, for contributing printer ink!  We are continuing our technology work and will be printing student work.

This week we will be meeting Mr. N and his noisy nose.  We will continue writing, rhyming and practicing forming words.  We are using Starfall to practice sight words and reading and have started using ABC Mouse.

Our schedule this week is:
Monday:  P.E., yoga, council
Tuesday:  Speech & Language, Art Trek
Wednesday:  P.E., Planet Bravo, 2nd Step
Thursday:  normal classroom schedule
Friday:  Morning Assembly, Dance (last class), Sharing, Homework Review, Library, Big Buddies

When is the 100th day of school? I asked Grady today and he said, "after the 90s"
Thanks!
