We all have Spring Fever!  The weather is warm, Spring Break is on the horizon and the big countdown to summer is almost here.  It is still important to come to school everyday and to participate in all activities!  Please make every effort to have your child attend the full day of school everyday.  This is important.  Why?

*It establishes good school behavior and habits.

*Your children will learn more.

*Your children will not miss any fun/important activities.

*Your children will internalize that you believe school is important.

School is important and regular attendance demonstrates your respect for me, for the school and for your child's education.

We started writing in our Gratitude Journals this week and the children are doing so well thinking of things they are grateful for. They truly have open hearts and care about the people, animals and activities in their lives.

This week we will start a new, fun activity during reading groups.  It is the Backpack Activity Program.  Each day the children will unpack a backpack filled with a fun activity, a story and exciting new materials.  Miss Amber will conduct the activities during reading group rotations.  We will also be practicing neat printing and playing fun reading games that reinforce Common Core skills.

The children are having a great time dancing on Friday afternoons.  Our dance teacher, Ms. Wall, is providing fun movement activities tied to literature.  The space in the auditorium is large and the children really get to move!  We appreciate that you all have remembered to send your children in tennis shoes and appropriate clothing.  Please remember to have the girls wear their hair off their face.  Most of you did!

Important Reminder:  It is very important that you email me or call the school office if your child will not be in school that day!  I have to enter the absence reason in the computer in the morning and each reason has a number code.  All absences result in our school losing money.  Only absences excused with a doctor's note or a parent verified illness, or a death in the immediate family are "excused."  All other absences are unexcused.  Tardies later than 30 minutes and unexcused absences are truant.  We have a PSA Counselor who is following up with families having difficulty ensuring their children's school attendance.

Remember, dismissal on Friday is at 1:35 p.m.  Please make your plans accordingly.
