No sharing this week!
This week we will meet Mr. N and his noisy nose. We are enjoying the letter projects some of the children are bringing in! Can your child find pictures of objects that begin with the sound on /n/? Maybe your child can make some "nice" music and play it for us? We are more than half-way through the alphabet and many of the children know all of the sounds we have taught so far. Some know all of the letter sounds and are beginning to read sight words, such as the, a, it my me, etc. We will be focusing more on reading and sounding out words after the winter break, but you can begin now if you haven't already! Details: Thank you all for paying attention to details, such as neat printing and coloring, returning papers on time and turning in book charts each month. Your children are learning excellent work habits and study skills thanks to the consistency you provide! Dreidel Math and Holiday Countdown: We are learning to play the dreidel game and having a lot of fun counting our counters and taking 1/2, of the counters in the middle. We are counting down the days until our holiday program, winter break, Hanukkah and Christmas. Thank you for all that you do to help me and the children in Room K! | Latkes! We have been learning about Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanza. I would love to let the children have the experience of making latkes and they are really anxious to taste them after we read some Hanukkah stories. Usually, a few parents volunteer to come in in the morning to let the children try grating potatoes, and then cook latkes (from prepared batter). I have recipes and an electric skillet. If you are able to come in, Monday, December 15th or Wednesday, December 17th to cook with the children please let me know! |
