We are nearing our Donors Choose goal so if you haven't yet donated, it would be so wonderful if you could. Every little bit helps so spread the word to other K parents you know! We only need $240! Here is the link: http://www.donorschoose.org/project/transitional-kindergarten-and-kindergart/845100/.
We are at the half-way point in the semester and I will be sending out notices to some parents of students who are possibly getting a 1 or 2 on the report card in a specific area. The grading system is as follows:
1-not meeting grade-level standards
2-inconsistant progress
3-meeting grade-level standards
4-exceeding grade-level standards (this usually means by at least 1-2 years)
Please do not be upset if you receive a letter! It is a District required notification. Many children are operating at a level "2" at this point in the year. Conferences will take place in November and we will discuss progress then. For now, it is important that you read the blog, complete the homework and stay in touch. Your involvement is imperative to your child's school success!
Now that it is October, we will begin our Sharing. This will take place on Fridays at 1:30. Please read the sharing instructions and assignments on the website under the "more" tab and look at the class calendar for your child's share day. Each child shares once a month and days are assigned by their small group (i.e. Piglets). This is homework. Please help your child succeed by having them prepared to share. They will sit in front of the class and speak to the group and answer questions about their share topic/object. This is excellent practice for public speaking. It is also a subject on our report card.
Groups:
Tiggers: Jude, Alex, Hunter, Satya, Erickson, Pearl
Winnie-The-Poohs: Julian, Samuel, Bryce, Reagan, Chloe, Stanley
Piglets: Ricardo, Oceana, Owen, Jack, Emma, Jason
Eeyores: Jonas, Annika, Maxwell, Coco, Tom, Zoe

KamGi; Thank you for helping in the classroom. Your kind patience is appreciated by the children and by me too!
Deborah: Thank you for helping with Art Trek and in the classroom. You are sure a happy addition to Room K!
For those who haven't yet had a chance to come in Room K, we look forward to all of you contributing what ever you are able to do. This is what makes a Charter school special. It lowers our student:adult ratio and helps all children succeed.
We are also so grateful to TEP for providing aides. Miss Amber and Ms. Marla work regularly in the classroom and additionally we have Miss. Hillary and Miss Janet provide student intervention in the afternoons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
I hope this inspires you all to contribute to the TEP Love Fund. I would love to see Room K get to 100% by the end of this month. Remember, give what you can but give. If we have 100% participation, we are much more likely to qualify for grants from organizations. Even a few dollars a month will help. TEP is going to list all of the families that have contributed and the children will be so proud to see their names on the list!
Please remember to contribute to our class fund. This will pay for the T-shirts, field trips and special art projects. It will also fund our part of the upcoming Halloween Carnival (our booth).
