This week we will begin a healthy nutrition (science) unit called Building a Healthy Me. Please read the handout I will send home on Tuesday with this week's homework. The children will complete a workbook at school over the next two weeks. This is the perfect tie-in to our up-coming holidays when there is a big focus on food. The program is provided by the Dairy Council and the focus is on a balanced diet. We discuss a variety of food choices focusing on healthy foods.
Perhaps you have heard that we are focusing on good student behavior in Room K. Students are practicing following the 3 B's and I have been giving out random tokens rewarding those students who are making an excellent effort. It is very helpful if you reinforce these behaviors at home and stress the importance of being the kind of person others enjoy being around. This is our focus for maintaining friendships, demonstrating respect to our friends and teachers, and taking pride in being model students. I am available if you need suggestions for ways to reinforce the 3 B's at home. The behaviors learned this year will become the foundation for your child's school career!
Remember there is NO SCHOOL on MONDAY, due to the Veteran's Day National Holiday. School on Tuesday-Friday will be dismissed at 1:35 p.m. for parent-teacher conferences. I have enjoyed meeting with parents last week and look forward to meeting with everyone this week too.
Please stop in the Book Fair up in the auditorium. It will be open from 1:35-4:30 all week.
Sharing on Friday this week is the Winnie The Pooh group. Remember all assignments can be found on the website, and share days are listed on the calendar.
