Speech & Language:  This week we will practice the blend /fr/.  We will make frog's tongues and enjoy a fruit salad contributed by Leo!

Sharing this week:  Poohs and Tiggers
This is a reminder that all children have been signed up for Raz-Kids.  A letter was sent home last week with information about logging on.  This is part of our homework and all children should use the program for at least 10 minutes a night.  If you have any problems logging on, please let me know.  I am checking the recordings weekly and rewarding children with bonus stars and sending messages.

Please remember to donate and share the link for our TK/Kindergarten Donors Choose project:

There are no matching codes at this time, but all donations are appreciated!

This week we will meet Ms. P and her pointy patches.  We will practice this sound in addition to our Speech & Language blend.  We will continue writing sentences and some children are expanding to write two or more sentences.  We are working on penmanship, grammar and punctuation.

We will continue with our academic program and our enrichment program as usual.

Mid-Semester Progress Reports will be sent out to students in jeopardy of receiving any 1s or 2s on their next report card.  If your child does not receive one, then they are meeting the grade-level standards.

I want to express my gratitude to all of the Room K parents who help in our classroom and to those who help from home.  It takes a community to create a classroom community and I am very lucky to have so many parents who care deeply about our students.

I had a wonderful learning experience at the Conscious Discipline Conference I attended with 4th grade teacher Ms. Talan for two days last week.  We got so much information and so many wonderful techniques to use to further develop our classroom family and to help students connect.  The most important take-away I got was that students need to feel safe in order to be able to learn and need to feel connection to want to learn.  This is why we spend so much time in Room K creating a classroom family that feels safe, caring and connected.  It was really wonderful to get so many resources to add to those I already have.

Have a wonderful week!
Mrs. W.

I think raz-kid is easy to use because their readings are simple and generic and it is great for students to learn in the beginning. I also use Beestar for more reading material because they provide more high-quality classic stories to students that can easily catch students' learning interest.
