We are continuing to work on our Letter People and our Math Journals.
We have begun a new morning ritual of checking in with our emotional state by going around the circle with each person telling how they feel that morning and also what they ate for breakfast. Please be aware of the impact that high-sugar breakfasts have on your child's emotional/intellectual state and school readiness each morning. This is quite evident in the morning by looking at which children are capable of sitting and paying attention and those that are in continuous motion and distract their classmates from learning.
Thank you to those of you who are providing healthy breakfasts, snacks and lunches.
Assessments have been given for language arts and math and results will be forth coming.
Children (and teachers) appreciate food that is easy to open and easy to eat. You might be surprised at how long it can take to peel an orange!
Please be sure your children are wearing safe, rubber soled shoes that are very secure on their feet. We have many playground accidents due to inappropriate footwear.
I continue to request your cooperation in arriving by 8:00 a.m. at the latest! Participating in Morning Rituals is very important and helps children to start the day positively.
We have our field trip to the Getty Villa on May 3 and a field trip to the Santa Monica Aquarium on June 10th.
Our last day of school will be June 19th and we will have a class potluck celebration and talent show by the students so save the date!
As always, please contact me with any questions or concerns.
Happy Spring!
