Sharing: This week the Piglets will share on Friday.
Be sure to wear Green on Thursday!

This week we will focus on the letter C. We will practice writing, listening to the sound, thinking of words that start with /c/ and meet Mr. C and his Colossal Cap! You can listen to his song here. We will work in our Picture Dictionaries, writing journals and Letter People binders. This week we will introduce our listening center on Friday with letter C activities.
During math time we will work in our September math journals, our Handwriting Without Tears #5 book, challenge the children with Starfall math problem solving and play math games.
Art Trek will start this Wednesday. Maribel (Leo's mom) is organizing our Art Trek program with lessons bi-weekly. In between these lessons I will be teaching Monart drawing to the children. This program is based on shapes and helps children learn to draw. I was trained in this program years ago and find that the children really enjoy it. You might have seen our first project, a lion, come home last week.
A huge thank you to our Room K Classroom Volunteers:
Richard, Maribel Sophie, Koren, Vikki, and Nikki.
Volunteers are still needed for a few time slots in Room K. We have 24 students in class and it is really imperative to have adult help in the classroom, especially during reading and math time. Available times are: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:30-11:20 for math and Monday and Wednesday from 9:00-10:00 during reading time. The children and I will really appreciate your involvement, help and support to make our 4 learning groups effective.
Thank you all for your support, coming to school everyday on time, returning homework every Friday and the loads of beginning of the year paperwork you have received! Room K raised over $1,400 for the Coyote Run and we are off to a great start supporting our wonderful Topanga Elementary School. Remember to check the school and our class calendar.
