We Made it to the 100th Day!

Speech & Language Snack:  Rachel (Sophia) Cheese Puffs for the final /f/ sound.
Sharing:  All children will share on the 14th, Valentine's Day.  The assignment for a Friendship Quilt is listed on the website in the drop down menu under the "more" tab.  We still need a couple of parents to make the quilt.  If you can help with this Silent Auction item, please see me tomorrow, Monday!  It is helpful to establish a color scheme ahead of time.

Thank you Canyon, Rachel, and Erica for your contributions to our new project.  We are getting new animals and dinosaurs to enhance our block play!  The children love it and it is so fun when the class can build together.  If you use the code "Inspire" your donation will be matched by The Yellow Chair Foundation  Here is the link.

We are so excited for the 100th Day of School on Monday, February 3rd!  The entire day will be filled with fun activities connecting the curriculum to the 100th day of school.  We will read stories, make Fruit Loop Necklaces, count to 100, make a Stamp It! book filled with 100 stamps and end our day with our fabulous 100 Cookies generously made by Christina and decorated by each child in Room K, 1 and 2.  The children will get to select a special 100 prize to take home too!

We will have Science on Monday and Miss Monks will continue working with the children on observations, tying it in with the 100th Day of course!

We will meet Mr. R with his Rainbow Ribbon Hair this week.  This sound can be particularly challenging for children, especially the final /r/ sound.  Please look for words and items around your home that begin and end with the /r/ sound and help your child articulate the correct pronunciation of the letter/sound.

In math we are working in our February Journals, as well as counting, beginning addition and subtraction, patterns (pre-algebra) and geometry (shapes, 3-dimensional shapes).

A few reminders:

*Please have your child wear safe, rubber soled tennis-type shoes to school every day!  Shoes that slip off, or are difficult to run and play in contribute to playground accidents.

*Please have your child wear comfortable play clothes, especially on Wednesday (P.E.), Thursday (yoga), and Friday (yoga/dance).

*Try cutting sandwiches into small bite size pieces.  This has been very successful for some children. They love it and are eating their lunches much more quickly.

*Please look at the homework rubric so your child can complete all work successfully.  Some children are not printing properly, coloring in all items or doing neat and careful work.  Teach your children to take pride in their work!
