Speech & Language:  This week we will practice the blend /sp/.  Our craft will be "spin art" and our snack of sponge cake will be contributed by Desmond!

Sharing:  The Piglets group will be sharing this Friday.

Our class has Frozen Treat Duty this week!

A huge thank you to Dina for organizing the Art Gallery project.  Thank you also to Suzanna and Jolie for helping out with the wonderful animal project.  The Gallery will be staged on Monday and will be open all week.  The Topanga Art Gallery Opening Reception will be Thursday from 3-6.  All art will be for sale!  This is a great fundraiser for TEP.  You children are really proud of the art they created so stop by and take a look at this professional show!
This week we will begin reading the many books of Dr. Seuss and learning about rhyming words, sight words and enjoying a lot of activities associated with the stories of Dr. Seuss. This is a tradition in preparation for Read Across America day honoring Dr. Seuss' birthday.  We will be celebrating during the first week of March.  If you would like to be a guest reader, please let me know.  The children would love to have lots of parent guest readers!

This week we will meet Letter Person R and his wonderful Rainbow Ribbons!  Mr. R has a brother, who is a rascal and likes to play with rubber bands.  This is the page we will be completing in our Letter People book.

We will continue to work in our math journals and explore composing and decomposing numbers using manipulative materials.  This is the beginning of addition and subtraction.  Here is a video showing kindergarten students practicing this Common Core standard. Our students utilize this strategy in the primary grades to build number sense and to gain understanding of addition and subtraction concepts.

On Thursday afternoon we will visit our Big Buddies classroom to see Colonial Days, a T.E.C.S. tradition where the 5th graders create a living history museum depicting the Colonial Days and explain how early colonists lived.

Monday:  P.E., Yoga, Council
Tuesday:  Speech & Language, Art
Wednesday:  P.E., Let's Find Out!, Second Step
Thursday:  School Tour, Colonial Days, Art Gallery Reception
Friday:  Morning Assembly, Music with Sean, Homework Review, Sharing, Library, Big Buddies, End of the 2nd Reporting Period.

*Conferences will be held the week of March 7th.
