This week we will begin our Art Trek lessons taught by our wonderful Art Trek parents, Erin and Anna. I am so grateful to both of them for taking the time to learn the lesson and then come in and teach the hour-long lesson to the children. You will be amazed by how your children improve in their art work and the appreciation of art as well.
Thanks Nikki,, for the great pictures taken by your amazing photographer!
Magazines: Did you know we get two magazines in our classroom? Let's Find Out! and Kindergarten Social Studies Weekly. Both are paid for with instructional materials funds from our school and are stand alone lessons with follow up work. Our Big Buddies will be helping us with our Social Studies magazine on Fridays. We are learning about our country and that is also part of the 5th grade curriculum.
Warning Notices: This Monday, Warning Notices will be sent home. These notices are required by LAUSD if a child is in jeopardy of receiving a 1 or a 2 on their report card. 1 means "is not making progress" and 2 means "inconsistent progress.." This is nothing to worry about, but we want to keep you informed. Your help with your child is critical to school success. Please make sure you are:
*reading aloud every day
*helping your child with Raz-Kids
*having a healthy breakfast every morning
*helping your child get a good night's rest every night
*asking questions if you are not clear about an assignment
*volunteering in the classroom/school
*providing a study(homework) space for your child at home
*helping your child learn to keep their materials organized at home
Thank you for all you do to make Room K a great class!
