Raz-Kids is now part of our nightly homework. Please practice for 10 minutes (minimum) each night. The procedure is:
Select a story from those on your assigned reading level.
Listen to a story
Read the story
Record yourself reading the story
Listen to yourself reading the story
Take the comprehension test (levels A and above)
I will listen to children reading from my computer and send a message and stars. Help your child buy items with their starts to decorate their robot and rocket ship.
Your involvement has a direct correlation to your child's success in school!
Hike week is this week and we are planning on taking our hike this Friday (unless it rains).
This Thursday we will get to experience Colonial Days, a 5th grade tradition here at TECS. We will visit the living history "museum" in the 5th grade classrooms from 1:00-1:30.
February 7th is the 100th Day of School! We will be celebrating by having a fun-filled day of activities. I have prizes for the children and will be asking for parent helpers and donations to complete the celebration. We will have Topanga author Sue Ganz Schmitt coming to class to read her new book: Planet Kindergaten 100 Days in Orbit!

Reading:
This week we will me Letter Person Q. We are continuing to advance writing skills and diligently working on improved fine-motor skills.
Math: We will begin our February Math Journals and are completing our Handwriting Without Tears numbers, learning to form the numbers correctly and establishing one-to-one correspondence. We are learning to make number sentences to complete addition and subtraction math problems and to represent the math sentences with illustrations.
Please remember to send your child in appropriate shoes suitable for running and playing. Please send jackets and dress your child in layers to accommodate outdoor play.
Our dramatic play kitchen refrigerator is still in need of repair. If you can help attach the freezer door it would be much appreciated!
