Room K Procedures
Check the Room K Blog on this website for all information and updates. I am going green(er) and trying to avoid using paper.
Please Remember to have your child bring his/her Book Buddy Bag and Folder to school every day.
You can help your child by:
*Arriving by 7:55 a.m. to allow time to park and walk to the
*Be sure your child has tennis shoes (or other rubber soled
shoes) and socks for safe play and sweater, jacket or
raincoat (and umbrella) on cool or rainy days. No sandals, slippery shoes or shoes that are difficult to run in,
or fall off easily.
*Provide a healthy snack and lunch he/she can eat unassisted.
Provide enough food for the day, but small portions and variety are good. Please be sure your child can
manage all containers by him/herself as children enjoy feeling like independent eaters.
Provide napkins and eating utensils and pre-peal oranges. This will save time and make eating
more enjoyable for your child.
*Arrive 15 minutes prior to dismissal in order to park and arrive
at the classroom before the bell. No child likes to be the last
one picked up.
Your support and positive attitude will enable your child to have a smooth transition.
I depend on classroom volunteers!
Volunteer training is being scheduled and volunteers with negative TB test results on file in our school office may begin volunteering in Room K three weeks into the school year, according to our volunteer schedule. Please check the school website (www.topangaelementary.org) for dates and times. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST HAVE A RECENT TB TEST, ATTEND A PARENT TRAINING AND MUST SIGN IN, IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE EVERY TIME THEY VOLUNTEER!
We will be happy to celebrate classroom birthdays. If you would like to bring a small, healthy treat for your child’s birthday, please speak to me first and plan on bringing it the last 15 minutes of the school day.
All absences must be verified with a note from the parent/guardians. Notes can be found on the website on the Parent Letters page. Please send a note the day your child returns to school. Please arrange family trips and doctor's appointments for vacations and after school. Students with less than 96% attendance are considered "at risk" by LAUSD.
